Member of the ALF team and a post-doc scholar at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law, Julieta Rabanos participated in the congress “Giornata in onore di Paolo Comanducci” at the Centro Studi Politeia – Università degli Studi di Milano.
The congress was organised in two sessions, moderated by Vito Velluzzi and Francesca Poggi (Università degli Studi di Milano; Politeia). The speakers were Claudio Luzzati (Università degli Studi di Milano; Politeia), Giulio Itzcovich (Università degli Studi di Brescia),
Julieta Rábanos (University of Belgrade), Nicola Riva (Università degli Studi di Milano; Politeia), Giorgio Pino (Università degli Studi Roma Tre), Aldo Schiavello (Università degli Studi di Palermo) and Silvia Zorzetto (Università degli Studi di Milano; Politeia). Both sessions concluded with the replies from Paolo Comanducci (Università degli Studi di Genova) and debate with the general audience.
In her intervention, titled “Modelli di ragionamento giuridico: una proposta di integrazione” (Models of legal reasoning: a proposal for integration), Julieta Rabanos proposed a critical analysis of Paolo Comanducci’s theoretical model of legal reasoning, which focuses on the activity of judicial authorities in judicial contexts. After a brief reconstruction, she proposed to consider five points in which this model could be fruitfully complemented by another legal reasoning model, an inferentialist model, as developed by Damiano Canale and Giovanni Tuzet.
Rabanos concluded by showing how this complementation could lead to a more comprehensive model for the purpose of explaining legal reasoning in judicial contexts.
